UPDATE: The woman has been found safe.
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — An 81-year-old woman who suffers from dementia was reported missing in Martinez Wednesday morning, according to the Contra Costa Sherrif’s Office.
The family of Mary Madrid informed deputies that she was missing at around 10 p.m. from a residence at 4084 Via De Flores, officials said.
Family members say she walked away from the house at around 5:30 p.m. and never returned.
They had originally believed she was at a friend’s house but later realized she was nowhere to be found.
Madrid most likely walked off, became confused and couldn’t find her way home, according to police.
Deputies searched of the house and surrounding area but could not locate Madrid.
