UPDATE: The missing Danville teen has been found, according to his father.

In email to KRON4, the father said he was safely located and he thanked this station for helping to spread the word about the missing boy.

DANVILLE (KRON) — Police are searching a missing 17-year-old boy from Danville, according to his father.

Jake Simonse was last seen leaving San Ramon Valley High School around 9:15 a.m. on Thursday.

No one, including his friends and family, has seen or heard from him since.

His father said this is unlike Jake and is worried Jake may be suffering from anxiety or depression brought on by stress. Jake had missed a lot of school due to a recent illness and had fallen behind in his classes.

The Danville Police Department is investigating the report, but they believe the teen is a runaway.

Jake was last seen wearing tan khaki shorts, a white t-shirt and tennis shoes, a dark blue jacket and a blue and white beanie. He was carrying a brown backpack when he left the school. He does not have his cell phone with him.

Jake is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 150 pounds with light brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who has seen Jake or has any information is asked to call the Danville Police Department at 925-314-3700.
