FAIRFIELD (KRON) — An 11-year-old boy was seriously hurt in Fairfield after he was struck by a minivan on Monday morning, police Sgt. Matt Bloesch said.
The boy is now in the hospital with serious injuries.
He was trying to cross Texas Street at Great Jones Street just before 8 a.m. The minivan was driving east on Texas Street when the boy was hit, police said.
The boy was in a crosswalk when he was hit but there is no signal light at that location. The driver, who stopped and is cooperating with police, is not suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol,
Sgt. Matt Bloesch said.
“It appears he just stepped out in front of the van,” Bloesch said.
The boy was cared for at the scene by witnesses and then taken by ambulance to UC Davis Medical Center.Bay City News contributed to this report.
