MILPITAS (KRON)—Two suspects have been arrested on Wednesday for allegedly stealing mail and possessing drugs, according to Milpitas police.

Around 11:55 p.m., a police officer stopped a tan 1995 GMC Vandura van in the parking lot of the Wal-Mart for having a 2017 registration sticker even though the registration expired in 2015.

The driver had a suspended license and was on probation in Santa Clara County . She was later identified as 34-year-old Tamara Phillips of San Jose.

The passenger inside the van was identified as 36-year-old Felix Taplin of San Jose.

Taplin initially gave officers a fake name, but an officer found his real identity, according. Taplin had misdemeanor arrest warrants from the San Jose police.

Police searched the van and found 12 grams of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a backpack with a large amount of stolen mail.

Both Taplin and Phillips have been booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.

Phillips was arrested for possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance for sales, transportation of a controlled substance for sales, possession of drug paraphernalia, providing false identification information, and the two outstanding misdemeanor arrest warrants.

Taplin was arrested for possession of stolen property, driving with a suspended license and violation of probation.
