The Millennium Tower is avoiding a yellow tag as the Homeowners Association has taken steps to improve the safety of the building.
The city says it will review those plans and not take immediate enforcement action for now.
Crews are working to install an overhead protection system — essentially a canopy — to protect people from falling glass or debris at the Millennium Tower.
This comes after a glass window panel broke on the 36th floor about two weeks ago.
A few days ago, they used a drone to inspect the damage, but it crashed into the building and nearly landed on people below.
The city is now demanding the homeowner’s association of the Millennium Tower to fix three specific problem areas of the building that could threaten the safety of the public.
Other actions that need to be completed by today are the building’s window washing crane and more cracked glass panels.
The city has threatened to yellow tag the building if the HOA doesn’t complete these mandatory fixes and inspections.
The original deadline was by 3 this afternoon but the city could extend it to give them more time.
As the attorney for the association says it’s going to be near impossible to get permission to get into and inspect over 400 units by today.
KRON4 is working to confirm if they get some relief.
