Masked thieves pistol whip clerk, rob Santa Rosa store

SANTA ROSA (KRON) — A search is under way for two armed robbers who police say held up a convenience store in Santa Rosa and attacked the store’s clerk, before getting away with cash.

The robbery was reported Thursday at 10:38 p.m. at Quick Pick Market and Deli on Corporate Center Parkway near Sebastopol Road.

Investigators say two people wearing masks, one armed with a gun and the other holding a baseball bat, came into the store and confronted the store’s clerk. The assailant with the gun then pointed his weapon at the clerk and struck him in the head with the gun, police said. The worker fell to the floor. That’s when the robbers demanded he open the cash drawer, according to police.

Investigators say the worker complied and the robbers grabbed the money before running off. The two were seen running in the eastbound direction from the store before officers arrived.

Investigators say the clerk suffered a minor head injury when he was pistol whipped. He was treated at the scene by paramedics. Police say there were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery, but the crime was captured by a surveillance camera.

The man with the handgun is described to be about 5’7″ to 5’10″ tall. He was wearing a black ski mask, a black hooded sweater with white colored writing on it, black pants and black shoes, according to police. He was also carrying a dark handgun and wearing white or light-colored gloves.

It’s unknown if the assailant with the bat is male or female. Police say that person is described to be 5’2″ to 5’5″ tall, with a thin build. Investigators say he or she was wearing a ski mask, a black hooded jacket, black pants, and black and white shoes and was also carrying a black backpack.

Police are asking anyone with information about this case to contact the department’s violent crime unit at (707) 543-3590.
