SAN JOSE (KRON) — Prosecutors are filing manslaughter charges against two suspected street racers accused of killing a pedestrian.

Investigators say 18-year old Gabriel Becerra Esparza and 23-year old Manuel Anthony Maldanado-Avalos remain jailed a day after the collision that killed Kiran Pabla.

Authorities say it appears Esparza and Maldanado-Avalos were racing their cars on Yerba Buena Road at Edenview Drive at about noon on Monday. Both vehicles were allegedly going over 70 when they lost control, collided with a guard rail, and came to a rest. One of the cars appears to have pinned Pabla between it and a tree. Pabla was pronounced dead on the scene.

Investigators are looking for more potential witnesses to the alleged road race. Both Esparza and Maldanado-Avalos are charged with Vehicular Manslaughter and Reckless Driving Causing Great Bodily Injury.
