The Marin County Sheriff’s Office has released new information about their manhunt for a third teen wanted for the murder of a Novato High School student.
Javier Guevara, 19, is wanted for his involvement in the homicide, sheriff’s officials said. He is a relative of Edwin Guevara, one of three suspects in custody.
Edwin is being charged as an adult with murder with special circumstances in the death of Edwin Josue Ramirez Guerra.
The Marin County District Attorney says that Javier Guevara used a machete on both Guerra and a second teen, Llefferson Diaz, who is recovering from his injuries. No further information surrounding the attack was given.
Javier Guevara is a known member of street gang Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) and is considered armed and dangerous.
A restraining order to protect Diaz against all three suspects in custody has been issued, officials told KRON.
SAN MATEO COUNTY (KRON) — Police served a search warrant Wednesday morning in San Mateo County in connection to the murder of a Novato High School student, according to sources close to the case.
Three people have been arrested so far and authorities have been actively looking for a fourth suspect.
No suspects were located, according to authorities.
Edwin Guevara, 16, and Juan Carlos Martinez Enriquez, 17, were arrested on Thursday after police performed multiple high-risk tactical raids.
They will be charged as adults with murder with special circumstances in the death of Edwin Josue Ramirez Guerra and for attempted murder of a second Novato High student.
Elmer Machado-Rivera, 20, of San Rafael, was arrested Sunday in connection with the shooting, according to the Marin County Sheriffs Office. Court documents allege that Machado-Rivera aided Henriquez last Wednesday following the shooting is has been charged with being an accessory the after the fact.
Guerra, 17, of San Rafael was shot and killed on May 29th on a Novato trail near the end of Fairway Drive at around 5 p.m. Another male student was found injured.
According to court documents, Enriquez was allegedly the trigger man in the murder of Guerra.
The second shooting victim, Llefferson Diaz, is still in the hospital recovering from his injuries is expected to survive.
