SANTA ROSA (BCN) — A man was arrested in Santa Rosa early Tuesday morning after evading police in a stolen vehicle.

Police said at 1:43 a.m. officers responded to call from citizen who was following his stolen vehicle in the area of North Dutton and Jennings Avenues.

Officers arrived and attempted to conduct a traffic stop near the area of Guerneville Road and North Dutton Avenue however the suspect fled heading west on Guerneville Road.

Police said Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies deployed a spike strip near Guerneville and Laguna Roads, and successfully flattened several tires causing the vehicle to slow down.

The vehicle pulled over a short distance later and officers arrested 29-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez Jr. without incident.

Hernandez was arrested on suspicion of felony evading, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and driving on a suspended license.

Additionally, police said Hernandez had numerous outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Hernandez was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
