Man steals up to $8,000 of equipment from hardware store in San Rafael

SAN RAFAEL (KRON) — Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a hardware store in San Rafael stealing various equipment, according to police.

On Wednesday, October 12th approximately 2:15 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. a male suspect forced entry into a Jackson Hardware Store in Sam Rafael at 435 DuBois Street. Police said the suspect stole a number of portable generators, tools and construction equipment valued at $8,000.


The theft was caught on surveillance inside the store.

According to police, the suspect appeared to an older looking white or Hispanic looking man wearing dark pants and a long sleeve dark colored shirt or jacket. The suspect’s hair is light or gray colored, and also has a stocky build.

Police also spotted a vehicle in the video and described it as silver or gray, medium colored, four door Ford or Lincoln large SUV. The vehicle was seen getting away at a high speed.
