SANTA ROSA (KRON) — Santa Rosa police are investigating a stabbing that happened inside a movie theater on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said it happened at the Roxy Theater complex, located at 85 Santa Rosa Avenue, at around 4 p.m.
The victim was watching a movie, police said, and the suspect stabbed the 21-year-old man from behind.
The 23-year-old suspect then ran off toward the Prince Memorial Greenway, police said.
Witnesses called 911, and police were able to make an arrest in the Prince Memorial Greenway at A Street and the weapon was recovered.
The victim was stabbed several times and was taken to the hospital, police said. The man is being treated for multiple life-threatening stab wounds.
It appears the stabbing was random, according to Sgt. Josh Ludtke. Investigators believe the attack was unprovoked and that the victim did not know the suspect.
The weapon was recovered at the theater and a 23-year-old man, whose name has not yet been released, was taken into custody, police said.
