SANTA ROSA (BCN) — Police are investigating a Tuesday stabbing that occurred at a
shopping center parking lot across from the Santa Rosa Junior College campus
in Santa Rosa.
Officers responded at 4:04 p.m. to a report of an assault that
occurred in the 1800 block of Mendocino Avenue.
Responding officers located a man on the ground in front of a
store suffering from stab wound, police said.
The victim, identified as an 18-year-old man, was exiting a parked
vehicle when his door accidentally struck the side of the vehicle parked next
to his, police said.
The occupants inside the parked vehicle, described as two men in
their 20s, exited the vehicle, confronted the victim and started to shout and
flash gang hand signs, police said.
The suspects punched the victim several times, and one of the
suspects pulled a stabbing instrument and stabbed the victim once in the
abdomen, police said.
The suspects then fled the area in their vehicle.
The victim was transported to the hospital with injuries that were
critical but not life threatening.
Police said the victim does not have any known gang association.
His identity has not been released.

A $2,500 reward is being offered for information leading to the
arrest and conviction of the suspects involved in the assault.
