SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A man was stabbed multiple times during an altercation at San Francisco’s UN Plaza on Thursday, police said.

Police said the suspect, a 50-year-old man, was yelling and got into an altercation with the victim, a man in his 20s.

The suspect then stabbed the victim multiple times, police said.

Bystanders intervened but officers were able to take the suspect into custody, police said.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and has life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The suspect suffered a self-inflicted knife wound, police said. He is also being treated at the hospital.

The suspect is expected to be booked for attempted murder.
