A man was shot while he was driving on Highway 24 early Tuesday morning.

According to CHP, officers found the man around 6:30 a.m. after he stopped his car on the connector ramp between westbound Highway 24 and southbound Highway 13 west of the Caldecott Tunnel.

A car allegedly pulled up on the driver’s side of the victim’s car and opened fire.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries, according to authorities.

“Yeah, he is lucky to be alive,” said CHP Officer Herman Bosa.

Officials are continuing to investigate why the man was shot.

“We don’t have a motive for the shooting. The victim stated that he didn’t recognize that vehicle. He didn’t recognize the driver,” said Bosa.

The suspect was driving a white Nissan Sentra.

Anyone with information is asked to call CHP at 1-800-TELLCHP.
