Man shot in Salinas by two alleged gang members

SALINAS (KRON) — A 27-year-old man was shot late Sunday by two alleged gang members, according to the Salinas Police Department.

The incident occurred at about 10:30 p.m. in the 700 block of Elkington Avenue, police said. When officers arrived they found the victim in a parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds, according to police.


Witnesses told police they saw a silver BMW going north on Elkington Avenue immediately after the shooting.

The BMW pulled up to a while Honda Civic after reaching North Sanborn Road and a male wearing a red hoodie got out of the BMW and got into the Civic.

Police said both cars drove off in opposite directions.

The victim suffered wounds to his face and torso that are not considered life-threatening, police said. The victim told police that three Hispanic males approached him and when he denied being involved in a gang, two of the males shot him, according to police. Police said the victim’s history includes contact with gangs.
