ANTIOCH (KRON) — An Antioch police officer shot a man who was allegedly armed early Tuesday morning, police said.

Police received a report about a domestic violence incident in the 900 block of West Eighth Street at 2:33 a.m., according to police.

A 56-year-old Antioch man allegedly armed with a gun confronted the officers when they arrived.

Officers fired shots at the man and wounded him, according to police.

Police did not say if the man also fired his weapon.

The man was taken to a hospital where he underwent surgery, police said. He is listed in stable condition.

None of the officers suffered injuries.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office and the Antioch Police Department are investigating the incident.
