Man shot at front door of his Western Addition home during robbery

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A man was shot in the front doorway of his Western Addition home during a robbery late Friday night, according to police.

The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, an injury not considered life-threatening, according to police.

The shooting happened on the 900 block of McAllister street at 11:54 p.m. when the 49-year-old heard a knock at his front door and opened it.

“The suspects were there when he opened the door and basically forced their way into the apartment,” police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.

“They forced him down to the ground demanding his money, property,” Esparza said. “When he stood up, that’s when he was shot.”

The suspects made off with the victim’s wallet and cash, according to Esparza.  No description of the suspects is available at this time.
