SANTA ROSA (KRON) — A man on top of an electrical tower in Santa Rosa has led to a mass power outage on Wednesday night, according to police.
Police said the man is now in custody. Police first received a report about the man on the tower at around 8:43 p.m.
The tower was de-energized at around 8:48 p.m.
The tower is located on Pierson Street and Santa Rosa Creek, west of Highway 101. About 22,000 customers were without power.
A hostage negotiations team talked the man down from the top of the tower.
At 9:12 p.m., crews began to restore power, and by 9:26 p.m., all customers had power restored. Police are investigating if the man caused damage to the tower.
Police said they do not think the man is suicidal but may have climbed the tower in some form of protest.
