VALLEJO (BCN) — Authorities used a Taser and a police dog to take a Vallejo man into custody after he led officers on a chase through Solano and Contra Costa counties Wednesday night, a Vallejo police lieutenant said on Thursday.

Vallejo police officers on patrol at about 11:25 p.m. tried to stop a car near the intersection of Meadows and Jack London drives, but the driver failed to yield to the officers, Lt. Steve Cheatham said.

The driver, later identified as 44-year-old Alvin Delos Reyes, led officers on a pursuit through Vallejo and onto westbound Interstate Highway 80 and state Highway 4 at speeds reaching 95 mph, Cheatham said.

California Highway Patrol officers used spike strips to disable the vehicle near the Pacheco Boulevard off-ramp.

Cheatham said the car became disabled near the interchange of Highway 4 and Interstate Highway 680.

Reyes did not get out of the car when officers approached the vehicle and Cheatham said CHP officers and Contra Costa County sheriff’s deputies used a Taser and a police dog to bring Reyes into custody.

Reyes was found to be on probation, but Cheatham said he didn’t know why Reyes initially fled from police.

Reyes was arrested on suspicion of evading a police officer and booked into a Solano County jail, Cheatham said.
