SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — A man was killed in an apparent forklift accident Monday afternoon in San Francisco’s Dogpatch neighborhood, according to fire officials.
The incident occurred just before 2 p.m. at Tennessee and Cesar Chavez streets, according to fire department spokesman Jonathan Baxter.
The man, an employee at a lumber supply company in the 1300 block of Marin Street, was driving a forklift when it went off a ramp, according to a spokeswoman for the California Department of Occupational Safety and Health.
The employee got pinned underneath the forklift and died of his injuries, the spokeswoman said.
Baxter described the incident as an “industrial accident.”
Cal/OSHA is investigating, as are San Francisco police.
The medical examiner’s office is still at the scene investigating and has not yet released the man’s identity.
