FREMONT (KRON) — A 61-year-old man was killed after crashing into a tree in Fremont early Monday morning, a police sergeant said.
The crash was reported at 3:46 a.m. on Mission Boulevard just south of Sullivan Underpass, Fremont police Sgt. Mark Dang said.
When officers arrived the man was unresponsive in the vehicle.
Police say the vehicle appeared to be travelling south and struck a tree on the right side of the road.
The victim was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The man, whose name is not yet being released, was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to Dang.
Investigators have not yet determined why the Civic went off the road and hit the tree, he said.
