CONTRA COSTA CO. (BCN) — A 63-year-old Discovery Bay resident was killed in a three-car collision Friday near Brentwood, according to the Contra Costa County coroner’s office and the California Highway Patrol.

The man, identified Monday by the coroner’s office as Dereck Dragonetti, was airlifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he was pronounced dead.

CHP officers and medical crews responded just before 4 p.m. Friday to a report of a three-car collision involving a big-rig truck near the intersection of Marsh Creek Road and Hoffman Lane, according to the CHP and the East Contra Costa Fire Protection District.

Dragonetti was the only patient transported to the hospital, ECCFPD officials said.

The roadway was closed for more than two hours Friday.

More information about the crash was not immediately available Monday morning.
