Man killed by Amtrak train in Oakland identified

OAKLAND (KRON) — The Alameda County coroner has identified the man who was killed by an Amtrak train in April.

Forty-five-year-old Nghia Tran of Oakland was killed when one of Amtrak’s Capital Corridor trains hit him on the tracks near the Fruitvale Avenue crossing.


The accident happened just before 1 p.m. on April 11.

Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said the tracks were closed until 4 p.m. and delayed five trains traveling through Oakland.

Initial reports did not say if this death was an accident of the result of a suicide.
