SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A man was sentenced on Wednesday to 10 years in prison for traveling to a foreign country to have sex with a minor, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Shaun Kelley, 57, plead guilty to the charges in federal court in San Francisco.

Kelley, 57, admitted on May 13 that in September 2013 he traveled to Thailand where he spent the next three years.

He told prosecutors he paid a 14-year-old boy, whom he allegedly knew to be underage, to engage in sexual activity with him on June 10, 2015, and that he took a video depicting the encounter.

Earlier this year, a grand jury indicted Kelley with a single count of engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places.

In addition to his 10-year prison sentence, Kelley was also sentenced by U.S. District Judge Susan Illston to serve five years of supervised release.
