A man in Oakland was killed in a fire that officials say likely started at or near a Christmas tree.
The fire broke out at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment in the 6500 block of Shattuck Avenue.
When firefighters arrived, they found the body of the 38-year-old man near the front door.
There was a lot of smoke in the apartment coming from the tree.
No one else was inside the apartment at the time.
