FAIRFIELD (KRON) — A man found unconscious on a burning hillside in Fairfiled has been arrested, accused of starting that fire, according to police.
Joshua Hoeckendorf, 35, of Fairfield, was taken to NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield for treatment of smoke inhalation and possible burns after firefighters found him in a burned area of the hillside off Chapparal Court, police Lt. Kevin Carella said.
Hoeckendorf is currently on parole for property crimes and is suspected of lighting the blaze that was reported around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Carella said.
Detectives found evidence the blaze was purposely set, as well as other evidence that indicates Hoeckendorf, an area transient, is responsible, Carella said.
Heckendorf was arrested Friday morning, charged with arson and violating the terms and conditions of his parole.
The 1-acre vegetation fire is still under investigation, Carella said.
