OAKLAND (KRON) — A man who was shot in East Oakland on Thursday night died after driving himself to the hospital, police said.

Oakland police officers responded to a report of gunshots in the 3500 block of 68th Avenue, near the Eastmont Town Center, at 9:25 p.m. and located the shooting scene but didn’t find a victim, police said.

Officers later learned that the male adult victim transported himself to a local hospital to be treated for gunshot wounds. The man died of his wounds a short time later, according to police.

Police said the victim’s identity has not been determined pending an autopsy by the Alameda County coroner’s bureau.
