RICHMOND (KRON)—A 24-year-old driver has died and the 30-year-old passenger is critically injured in a solo crash on Richmond Parkway Tuesday morning.
It happened at 9:10 p.m. on the parkway near Giant Road and Hilltop Drive, according to police.
The driver and the passenger were both taken to the hospital with major injuries.
The driver has been identified as Michael Smith, Jr. of Richmond who was pronounced dead at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
Police report the car went off the road and hit a tree head-on. The tree was in the center divider of the road.
Drugs and alcohol are not being considered a factor in the crash.
