CONCORD (BCN) — A 55-year-old pedestrian died after a car struck him Monday morning in Concord, according to police.
At 7:42 a.m., police received a report of a man trapped underneath a vehicle near Pacheco Street and Port Chicago Highway, Concord police spokesman Cpl. Chris Blakely said.
Upon arrival, officers learned the victim was walking when a 2008 Kia struck him, according to Blakely.
Medical personnel transported the victim to a hospital, where he died, Blakely said.
The driver of the Kia stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. It does not appear that drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, according to Blakely.
The roadway where the crash happened was closed for about three hours as officers conducted an investigation, Blakely said.
