SALINAS (KRON) — A man is critically injured after a car struck him in Salinas Saturday night, according to police.
Police say the man was walking in a crosswalk at East Alisal and Smith Streets around 8:50 p.m. when he was struck by an Acura Integra going east on East Alisal.
The victim is described as a man in his late 40s. He suffered severe injuries to his face, head and side of his body.
Emergency crews transported him to Natividad Medical Center where is condition was determined to be critical but stable.
The Acura driver, a 31-year-old man, cooperated with police and did not appear to be driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to police.
