SANTA CRUZ (KRON) —  Santa Cruz Police used its emergency notification system to tell neighbors to remain indoors while they investigated a domestic violence incident Wednesday evening that may have involved a gun.

Officers were in 100 block of Hebard Street near Garfield Park around 6:30 p.m. to investigate a domestic disturbance.

Officers received information indicating that a firearm may have been involved in the case and temporarily closed a number of neighboring streets to protect neighbors and ensure public safety, police said.

Residents were advised to stay in their homes through a series of ENS calls, according to police.

An unidentified male suspect was detained on Hebard Street, but the investigation is ongoing.
