PALO ALTO (KRON)—Police arrested a man for arson after he allegedly set a Palo Alto hotel room on fire Tuesday night and threatened officers with a knife.

It was reported at the Glass Slipper Inn on 3941 El Camino Real around 8:45 p.m.

The flames came from a hotel room on the second floor.ADDITIONAL COVERAGE OF HOTEL FIRE:

No one was in the room when firefighters arrived on scene.

Twenty-three hotel guests were evacuated while crews tried to put out the fire.

Multiple units were called and they were able to contain the fire to that single room.

Police found a woman in her twenties rented the room. Her estranged husband came into the room and started arguing with her.

The woman left the room before it turned into a physical fight leaving her husband by himself.

She found out later that her room was set on fire.

Around 10:30 p.m., police found her husband on the 1800 block of California Street in Mountain View.

The man pointed a pocket knife at an officer and threatened him to shoot him.

Other officers helped take the man into custody.

The suspect has been identified as Miguel Angel Gamero, 22, of East Palo Alto.

Gamero has been booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail.
