SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (KRON)—A 22-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in Live Oak after authorities found assault weapons and a baton in his car.
Agents with the Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team pulled over a car that was playing loud music on 7th Avenue and Capitola Road.
The driver has been identified as Adrian Abarca. He was on probation for prior illegal possession of a firearm.
As part of a probation compliance check, authorities searched Abarca’s car. They found a collapsible baton that he did not have a permit for.
The task force then went to Abarca’s home on Soquel Drive to finish the compliance check.
In his bedroom, authorities found a .22 caliber rifle, ammunition and a high-capacity magazine.
Abarca was booked into the Santa Cruz County for felony in possession of a firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a high capacity magazine and possession of a billy club.
