MOUNTAIN VIEW (BCN) — A 59-year-old man who allegedly burglarized a home where he was briefly confronted by a resident was arrested Wednesday in Mountain View, police said Thursday.
Robert Hulstman was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary and probation violation, police said.
A married couple at their home in the 300 block of Yosemite Avenue around 10:40 a.m. Wednesday heard noises from the front of the residence, according to police.
The husband went to the front of the home and saw a man, later identified as Hulstman, with some of the couple’s possessions, police said.
The resident tried to stop Hulstman, who was able to flee, according to police.
Officers were notified and responded to the scene, where someone alerted them that the suspect managed to enter her apartment and ran away when she saw him, police said.
Officers searching for Hulstman saw more property taken from the Yosemite Drive home in the area, according to police.
Around 1:15 p.m., officers responded to a call of a suspicious person in the area of Church Street and the individual matched Hulstman’s description, police said.
Hulstman was found in the area, identified as the suspect and arrested, according to police.
