Man arrested following San Leandro police chase Saturday

SAN LEANDRO (KRON) — A San Leandro man has been arrested after leading police on a chase through city streets Saturday night.

Around 9:40 p.m., an officers was patrolling the area of Farallon Drive and Griffith Street when he saw the driver of a Jeep Patriot chasing a Honda Accord. The officer also saw the Jeep pass the Honda in opposing lanes of traffic.


When the officer when up to the cars and turned on its emergency lights to investigate, the Jeep drove off.

The police officer chased the Jeep through a residential neighborhood, but soon lost it.

Just a few minutes later, San Leandro police got a call about two people running through nearby years.

They found 48-year-old Thomas Gaide of San Leandro walking with another man near Driftwood Way.

Police found the Jeep and witnesses were able to identify Gaide as the driver of the Jeep.

He was arrested and charged with suspicion of fleeing from the officer.
