SAN CARLOS (BCN) — Deputies arrested a 30-year-old man late Saturday night in San Carlos after finding him in possession of multiple stolen items, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 11:30 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a person searching through a vehicle in the 900 block of Rosewood Avenue, sheriff’s officials said.
After checking the area, deputies were able to locate a man matching the description given by the victim. The man initially tried to evade deputies, but he was detained, according to the sheriff’s office.
During the investigation, deputies discovered the man was in possession of numerous stolen items, which deputies believe he took from vehicles in the area.
The suspect, identified as East Palo Alto resident Garry Darnell, was arrested on suspicion of theft, vehicle burglary, possession of stolen property, as well as violating parole, sheriff’s officials said.
The sheriff’s office still has multiple items that have not been claimed. Anyone who believes their vehicle may have been burglarized Saturday night is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at (650) 363-4911.
Additionally, the sheriff’s office is reminding residents to make sure their vehicles are locked and to avoid leaving any valuables inside.
