A homeless man who threatened two people and a child with a machete in Unincorporated Redwood City on Monday has been arrested, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
Around 6:45 p.m. officers say they responded to the 300 block of 4th Avenue after receiving reports of disturbance and blood in a lobby of an apartment complex.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Marco Antonio Ayapanjocop from San Mateo, had a machete and approached the victims, authorities say.
Officers say Ayapanjocop lifted the machete and swung at the victims several times. When trying to disarm Ayapanjocop, one of the victims sustained a minor injury to his arm.
During this incident, a seven-year-old child was with the victims.
Officials say Ayapanjocop left the area but was later found and arrested.
Ayanpanjocop was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and cruelty to a child — Both of these are felonies.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to call the Detective Bureau at 650-599- 1536.
