WATSONVILLE (BCN) — A 21-year-old man suspected of tagging five businesses with graffiti in Watsonville was quickly arrested as officers arrived on scene early Monday morning, a police sergeant said.
Gil Ramos, of Watsonville, was arrested on suspicion of felony vandalism and was booked into county jail.
Around 1:15 a.m., officers responded to a report of vandalism in progress in the 1700 and 1800 blocks of Freedom Boulevard, Watsonville police Sgt. Tony Figueroa said. The person who reported the vandalism said multiple businesses’ walls, windows and pillars were tagged with an ink marker, Figueroa said.
Arriving officers found Ramos, who matched the provided suspect description, as he allegedly attempted to flee, according to Figueroa. The witness identified the vandalism suspect as Ramos, who was then arrested, the sergeant said.
Investigators found more than three dozen graffiti tags in white and black ink at five businesses, Figueroa said.
