Man accused of exposing himself several times in East Bay arrested

A man accused of exposing himself several times in the Bay Area has been arrested, Fremont police said.

On Wednesday, police said they arrested 31-year-old Joseph Ironteeth Angelle for several “high-profile” incidents throughout the Bay Area in the last year.

The cases spanned from May 2017 to Jun. 2018, police said. They all happened in Pleasanton, Newark, Fremont.

A tattoo captured on surveillance video on Angelle’s right bicep linked him to the crime, officers said.

Detectives found Angelle is a mechanic at a car dealership.

Detectives arrested him in San Jose.

“Investigators immediately dove into Angelle’s background and located two addresses of interest associated with close family members; one in San Jose and one in Stockton.  Utilizing officers from several specialized units within Department, surveillance was initiated at both locations,” police said in a press release.

As officers were surveying the San Jose location, they found a naked man running from apartments on Roberts Avenue.

That’s when officers said they arrested Angelle after he ran to some bushes. Police say he then resisted arrest.

Officers said they then tased Angelle and took him into custody.

Police also seized his 1998 Toyota Tacoma.

Officers said Angelle admitted to several of the indecent exposure incidents. He told police he committed about 26 similar acts in the past.

Angelle also told police he is a transient and sleeps in his truck.

He was booked into the Santa Rita jail on two counts misdemeanor indecent exposure, one felony count of indecent exposure, one felony count of burglary, one misdemeanor count of lewd conduct in public, and one count of misdemeanor resisting arrest related to the cases in Fremont.

Addition charges could be added.
