SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A man was accidentally shot in the leg near San Francisco State University when his neighbor was cleaning his gun on Wednesday night.

The gun owner, a 24-year-old man, was cleaning a handgun in his home in the 300 block of Serrano Drive when the gun fired around 10:30 p.m.

The bullet went through the floor and struck a 63-year-old man downstairs in the leg, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.Bay City News contributed to this report.
