PACIFICA (KRON) — Police have shut down Highway 1 in both directions Saturday night due to a major accident, authorities said.
The accident was reported at around 8 p.m. south of Rockaway Beach and near Pacifica State Beach. Investigators have shut down Highway 1 between Fassler Avenue and Crespi Drive.
Police would not disclose details about the incident, but they said that it involved a major collision. Police did not say when the highway will reopen, but neighbors in the area are reporting that the road could be closed for 4-5 hours.
Motorists are advised to take alternate routes around the scene of the accident.
