FREMONT (KRON) — Emergency precautions have been lifted at four Fremont schools after a police robbery investigation closed the campuses Friday, according to a school spokesman.
Officers arrested a male suspect, who has been hiding, into custody. The search continues for a female suspect.
Walters Junior High was on lockdown. Brier Elementary School and John F. Kennedy High School were on a shelter-in-place order.
Kennedy High School was conducting a shelter in place, however, students will be released at the normal time, police said.
The lockdown that closed Walters Junior High School was lifted at about 2:45 p.m. and a brief lockdown at Warwick Elementary was lifted shortly after 12:30 p.m., said Fremont Unified School District spokesman Brian Killgore.
“Everything is lifted, all schools are dismissed and we’re good to go,” Killgore said. “Everyone was a little on edge with this clown nonsense and we had to quash that rumor.”

The schools are all within a few blocks from each other. Walters is located at 39600 Logan Drive, Brier is at 39201 Sundale Drive and JFK is at 39999 Blacow Road.
The Fremont Unified School District Twitter account announced that “all issues affecting FUSD schools today are due to an armed robbery investigation in the neighborhood. Not clown-related.”
No other information has been made available by police.
There have been many reports of creepy clowns threatening schools and students all over the country over the past several days, and that led to heightened tensions on the campuses during the lockdowns, Killgore said.
The emergency precautions started at about 12:30 p.m. when a call came in to police about an adult being robbed outside of the Warwick campus, Killgore said.
The investigation of that robbery apparently led to the emergency precautions at the three other schools, he said.
Three of the schools are all within a few blocks from each other. Walters is located at 39600 Logan Drive, Brier is at 39201 Sundale Drive and JFK is at 39999 Blacow Road.
