UNION CITY — A lockdown at a Union City elementary school and nearby residences has been lifted.

Police ordered a lockdown while they searched for a burglar in the area.

Police informed staff at Tom Kitayama Elementary School 1959 Sunsprite Drive of the search and ordered a lockdown at about 11 a.m.

The burglary suspect was not suspected to be on campus and the lockdown was a precaution.

As a safety measure police searched the campus at about 12:15 p.m. without finding the suspect.

School district officials sent a message to parents informing them of the situation. All students and school staff are accounted for and safe.
