SAN JOSE (KRON) — Sheriff’s deputies Thursday have responded to a South Bay hospital on reports of an armed man.

Aerial images from the scene show a cordoned off a section of Valley Medical Center located at 751 S Bascom Ave. in San Jose.

Deputies responded to report from a hospital visitor of a gunman at around 1:20 p.m. The person was apparently carrying the gun somewhere on their body but it was not aimed at anyone, hospital spokeswoman Joy Alexiou said.

No injuries were reported.

According to authorities, someone reported seeing a gun inside of a garbage can in a bathroom. The reporting party said a man walked into the bathroom, retrieved the weapon and walked out.

Sheriff’s deputies reviewed surveillance video and saw a man matching the description of the alleged gunman leave the hospital.

The man in the video was identified by authorities. San Jose police are tracking the man down to investigate further.

Sheriff’s deputies searched the facility and found no threat. The lock down was lifted and an all clear has been given.

No further details were immediately available this afternoon.
