SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Cities all over the Bay Area are breaking records Friday as extremely hot weather sweeps the region.

San Francisco broke its all-time record high for any day at 2:43 p.m. when it hit 104 degrees.

The last time downtown San Francisco reached 100 degrees was on June 14, 2000 when it reached 103 degrees, which was the city’s all-time record high until today.

Gilroy broke its Sept. 1 record by 1 p.m. when temperatures hit 107 degrees. Until today, the hottest temperature for this day was 102 degrees in 1976.
