EAST LANSING (KRON) – An attorney for Golden State Warriors star, Draymond Green, says the misdemeanor assault-and-battery charge from a confrontation in Michigan could be resolved before the U.S. basketball team competes in the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Green is accused of striking ex-Michigan State football cornerback, Jermaine Edmondson, on July 10 near the campus in the downtown area. Draymond Green is a former Michigan State University standout.
The Warriors’ star power forward was named to the United States basketball team for the 2016 Olympic Games. The U.S. team starts play in Rio on August 6.
James Heos tells the Lansing State Journal (http://on.lsj.com/2afT4KC ) that Green appeared during a closed-door pretrial conference on Thursday in East Lansing District Court via FaceTime.
Heos said a plea agreement is a possibility and that he is “still accumulating witness’ statements” and “trying to get to the bottom of this.”
Edmondson told police he was punched by Green. An officer says he saw a “slap.”
Edmondson received a release to transfer from the school.
