OROVILLE (KRON) – The water level at Oroville Dam is expected to go up as Monday’s storm drop rain across the Sierra foothills.

A week ago fears that the emergency spillway was going to fail prompted the evacuation of 188,000 people.

With more rain on the way, Butte County emergency response teams are monitoring the situation closely, sheriff officials said.

It is not uncommon to see localized flooding, officials said. However, this flooding is not related to the spillway.

The evacuation warning for the Oroville Dam area is still in effect. This means residents should still prepare for potential evacuations. The Silver Dollar Fairgrounds is still open to those who wish to remain evacuated.

New video taken by the Department of Water Resources using a drone shows the work being done to repair the emergency spillway.
