Why are you nominating this educator?: Mr. King is such an inspirational teacher. He can be found singing with the kids, playing his guitar at assemblies, leading the kids on their morning walk, or playing soccer at lunch and recess. Regardless of when or what his kindergarten class is working on, he is always creative in his thought process, and intentional in his purpose. Kindergartners (and many more of the school’s children) benefit from his kind and empathetic way. He models care and respect and the children respond in kind. Even with two small children of his own at home, he finds a way to visit the home of each and every one of his kindergartners, to learn more about their home life and what makes them tick. This experience was one of the most beautiful moments I have ever witnessed. It is remarkable what an effect that can have on a child – such a feeling that this person truly cares about their well-being. I won’t spoil it for those who have yet to experience it, but the goodbye song and wish for their future will most certainly bring tears to your eyes and warmth to your heart. Mr. King is truly having an amazing effect on the development of these children, and their parents!
