WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (KWQC) – Last Friday, a Good Samaritan discovered a 5-week-old calico kitten suffering from horrific injuries.
“The shin bones were protruding from the left rear leg and there was skin missing from the kitten’s back,” according to officials with Ashworth Road Animal Hospital in West Des Moines, where the Good Samaritan rushed the kitten.
“The head of the femur was fractured off. So, the kitten was taken to surgery to amputate the left rear leg and repair the wound on her back.”
Based on the nature of the wounds, veterinarians believe the kitten was injured by a lawn mower.
48 hours after surgery, she appeared to be making a remarkable recovery.
“She was running, playing, climbing, and acting like a normal kitten!” ARAH tells KWQC.
The kitten now has a forever home after being adopted by the Good Samaritan who rescued her.
