A California man searched for his two abducted children for more than two years.

Bobby Harris had just gained full custody of his kids in March of 2017 when he says their mother took them and disappeared. Just days ago, the children were found in Washington state.

Harris and his kids have returned to Palm Springs where they are figuring out how they plan to move forward as a family.

“And then after months go by…and birthdays…and Thanksgiving…and Christmases…you know we’re into this second year it starts to you know, really break you,” Harris said.

Bobby Harris has been finally reunited with his kids after two long years of searching.

“Every time you turn on the news…at least for me…when you turn on the news and they say ‘A mother has gone over a bridge with their children or bodies were found of children…every time you hear that..you want to watch the TV to make sure it’s not your children…but you don’t want to watch because you’re afraid,” Harris said.

Harris says he had just gained full custody of his children. His ex-wife was supposed to bring them to court on Mar. 17, 2017.

Instead, she abducted Malachi and Sariah disappearing without a trace.

Harris, working with the District Attorney’s Office and police, a nationwide search, Facebook campaigns, websites, the kids frequently on the news.

“It just seemed impossible to me that someone could be here in this country and hide so well,” Harris said.

Until finally last week, someone spotted Malachi and Sariah at a zoo in Tacoma, Washington. Police contacted their mother and arrested her.

“Well, to be honest, it took me a while to believe it. We’ve got lots of calls over the past two years that they thought they spotted our children,” Harris said.

Harris says he was reunited with them on his birthday.

“The first couple of days were difficult…they’re young..they’re confused and they don’t understand the whole process,” Harris said.

Harris says their mother had changed their names while they were on the run.

The kids are now reacclimating to their new life.

“It’s been nice. It’s been fun here,” Sariah said.

Harris says he’s just focused on making up for lost time.

“Making breakfast, and watching movies and doing my daughters hair… it’s just been all of the things I’ve missed for all of these years,” Harris said.

Harris says it has been a financially difficult time, and so there is a GoFundMe account to help cover therapy expenses and resources needed to help get the family back to normal.
